Our beauty editor swears by these products in summer
As soon as the temperatures rise outside, you should adapt your make-up and the care of your skin and hair accordingly. For example, the skin needs more moisture, the hair needs deep care and the make-up needs some support to last longer. Our beauty editor Lucy Binder currently relies on the following products, which have been 100% approved. By the way, not only care products, but also a bit of color – for example on the toenails.
Clarins Cryo Flash Cream Mask
When the temperatures outside climb above 30 degrees, we long for a cool down. So does our skin, which is why my discovery of the summer is definitely the new “Cryo-Flash” mask from Clarins. The face mask is based on molecular and plant technology that reproduces the cooling mechanisms of the skin. Sounds complicated, but it’s easy to explain: As soon as you apply a thin layer of the mask to your face, you immediately feel a cooling effect, which you can even intensify by putting the mask in the fridge. Rinse off after ten minutes and the skin is not only cooled, but also slightly lifted.
The Ritual of Karma Sun Protection Milky Spray SPF 50 by Rituals
When it comes to sun protection, SPF 50 is a must for me. I also love sun sprays, which I can easily apply to my body with a spray bottle and which I can also use to apply sunscreen to my back if necessary. At the moment, my favorite thing to use is the Rituals sunscreen spray, which not only smells amazing (not like sunscreen at all) but also absorbs super fast. Nice side effect: The spray bottle also looks extremely nice in the beach chair.
“Night Queen” UV nail polish by Neonail
For once, no grooming product, but something I keep getting asked about: my neonail blue UV nail polish, which I wear on my toenails. I actually love wearing new shades in the summer, but currently I always stick with this color because it reminds me so much of holidays and simply suits every skin color. By the way, you should absolutely avoid these mistakes with the UV manicure.
Biotherm UV Defense Hydrating Fluid SPF 50+
The very first two steps in my morning skincare routine: wash my face and apply a high sunscreen to protect skin from UV rays during the day. It is particularly important to me that the cream absorbs quickly and does not leave a shiny or sticky film on the skin. Biotherm’s UV Defense Hydrating Fluid SPF 50+ meets all the criteria and not only protects against the sun, but also provides the skin with additional moisture.
“Hyaluron eye pads” by Annemarie Börlind
When my swollen eyes stare at me at the first video meeting in the morning, I immediately reach for my miracle weapon: eye pads. It’s not for nothing that I have them right on my desk, because I can put them on while I’m working. What is particularly important to me is that they provide moisture, which is why I swear by Annemarie Börlind’s “Hyaluron Eye Pads”. They immediately smooth out small wrinkles under the eyes and are almost transparent, which is why I can leave them on at the next video meeting with a clear conscience or even put them on when walking the dog.
CC Cream SPF 30 by Kess
In the summer when it’s hot outside I rarely wear foundation because I feel like my skin needs to breathe. For me, the perfect compromise is a tinted day cream that supplies the skin with all the important nutrients needed for care and also contains color pigments that cover small imperfections and redness. The Kess CC Cream with sun protection factor 30 is currently my go-to product because it is easy to care for and fun to apply. Why? Because it comes white out of the tube and only takes on the color of a foundation when rubbed in.
“Nutriplenish Masque Deep Moisture” by Aveda
In summer we naturally moisturize our skin and protect it from the sun. We tend to forget our hair, which is why I apply a hair treatment at least once a week in the summer, which I leave on for at least two hours. This gives your hair back important nutrients. After rinsing out the Aveda Nutriplenish Masque Deep Moisture treatment, I can really feel how much softer and shinier my hair is. In addition, the scent always reminds me of the fresh-from-the-hairdresser feeling.
“Skin Active Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 with Rose Water” by Garnier
Even though I’ve been working as a beauty editor for a long time, I only discovered my love for facial toners very late. I use Garnier every day because I think it’s the perfect price-performance ratio and smells so good of roses. I put the micellar cleansing water on a reusable cotton pad in the morning and evening and gently rub it over the skin to cleanse it. Because even if I have the feeling that I have already got everything with cleaning foam and make-up remover, I still find residue on the cotton pad. Tip: Since I tend to get blemishes on my neck and back, I wipe the skin there again in the evening with the facial tonic, for example to remove sweat that has collected there during the day. Since then, the blemishes have gotten much better.
Avène thermal water spray
Avène thermal water spray is an absolute classic and my essential for hot days and nights. The fine mist provides instant refreshment and cools down the skin. This is particularly pleasant at night, when it doesn’t want to cool down in the bedroom. The spray is available in mini format for the handbag, but also as a 300 ml bottle. Tip: Put the bottle in the fridge. This ensures maximum refreshment.
“24-HR Brow Setter” by Benefit
To keep those brow hairs in check all day, I swear by Benefit’s 24-HR Brow Setter. First, the gel-like texture is applied to the eyebrows and then combed into shape with the small comb as desired. With the gel you can not only give the eyebrows more volume, but it also ensures that the eyebrows survive every jump into the water.
WASO Yuzu-C Beauty Sleeping Mask by Shiseido
The skin has the most time to absorb nutrients at night, which is why I am a big fan of overnight masks. They are applied in the evening after cleansing and serum, work overnight and are washed off again in the morning. My favorite product at the moment is Shiseido’s WASO Yuzu-C Beauty Sleeping Mask, which despite the fact that it has to be washed off again, doesn’t leave a film on the skin at night. I also love the texture, because the mask consists of tiny yellow beads that only burst when applied to the skin and release the nutrients freshly.
